DOUBLES LEAGUE RULES

SHARING POSITIONS ON ALL DOUBLES LEAGUES IS PROHIBITED!!

Doubles Leagues will be scored on a percentage basis of games won divided by games played. The ranking in the league will be based on cumulative percentages, and prizes will be awarded accordingly.

Each week you will be scheduled to play on a court based on your cumulative percentage.

                                    First set:            Players 1 & 2 against 3 & 4

                                    Second set:      Players 1 & 3 against 2 & 4

                                    Third set:           Players 1 & 4 against 2 & 3

Matches shall consist of 3 regulation sets.  A set tie- breaker will be played for a 6-6 game score (see Set Tie-breaker page).  The team who reaches 7 points with a margin of 2 points over their opponents will win the set tie-breaker.  The winning team’s final score will be reported as 7-6 and the losing team’s score will be reported as 6-7.

All players will exhibit good conduct and sportsmanship (e.g., no visible or audible profanity or obscenity; no verbal or physical abuse of players; no abuse of racket, balls, or equipment; no retaliatory calls).  The players involved should address the misconduct or unsportswomanlike behavior at the time of occurrence.  Each offensive incident should be reported to the league representative.  After each reported incident, the league representative will discuss the incident with the player.  After 3 occurrences, the player will be dropped from the league.

SUBSTITUTES

League members may NOT use subs from other WOWTL league sub lists since subs can influence the outcome of a league.  Contact your league rep if you are not sure if your sub is on another WOWTL sub list.  A sub should be compatible to the level of play in the league.

The first two times a sub plays in the league, she will play in the position of the absent player.  League reps will keep percentages on substitutes.  After subbing twice, the sub will play in the position to which her percentage entitles her.  In the last two weeks of play in the season, the league rep has the right to place a sub.

EXCEPTION: If there are 4 subs they will automatically play on the last court.  If there are more than 4 subs, the 4 subs with the lowest percentages or first two times playing will play on the last court.  The remaining subs may play on the courts to which their percentages entitle them.

League members MUST notify the league rep when they are using a sub. This is especially important as the subs play their own percentages.  You must also provide the league rep with the name and phone number of your sub in case of rain or any other unexpected schedule change.  Be sure to instruct your sub to call the league rep if she is unable to play, and can not find a replacement.  Give your sub the league rep's name and number.

If there is a no-show situation with only three players available, they may choose to play 2 on 1.  These scores will not be counted for averages.

No-shows will be charged 0 games won / 18 games played.    If your sub is a no-show and you have not called the league rep with the name of your sub, you will be charged as a no-show.   If you had notified the league rep, you will not be penalized.

DROP-OUTS

Drop-outs in the doubles leagues will be replaced immediately.    A person, who drops out of any league for any reason other than an emergency, or for medical reasons, will be dropped from WOWTL.  If she wishes to rejoin, she will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list.   The Board will determine the eligibility of such players.

An emergency or medical drop will be placed at the top of the waiting list for the following year.

A member who signs up to play singles and doubles and during the season drops out of one, but not both leagues, for any reason, will be placed on the waiting list for the league she dropped the following year.

Two (2) years of consecutive medical drops may result in a player being reassigned to a lower league.

LATE ARRIVALS

Plan to arrive by 8:45 a.m. so that you can be on the court, ready   to play, by 9:00 a.m.  A player, who has to be penalized for late arrival more than 2 times, will not be eligible for a league award.  Play will begin immediately upon the arrival of the late player. The late player will receive no warm-up time.  Players arriving 10 minutes past the starting time of 9:00 a.m. shall receive a penalty of 6 games lost.

PRIZE / ADVANCEMENT QUALIFICATIONS

In order to qualify for a prize, or advance in a league, a player must play a minimum of 70% of the days that the league played, excluding rain days, regardless of the reason for absence.  A player who misses more than 50% of the league sessions without an emergency reason, will be dropped from WOWTL, but may be placed on the waiting list if she desires.
